Kaboodle’s Advent Calendar, Day 6
My father-in-law made the best fondue every holiday season. We would sit around the dining table, drinking a chilled white wine, dipping crusty French bread or Granny Smith apples in this rich Swiss Cheese concoction. Kaboodle has an assortment of Fondue pots just waiting for your fondue recipe or try mine.
My Fondue Recipe
- 7oz white wine
- 1/8t garlic powder
- 1 lb. Swiss cheese, cubes
- 1 1/2 T flour
- 1/2t salt
- 1/2t Worcestershire Sauce
Pour all but about 1/4c wine in a heavy saucepan or fondue pot
Add garlic powder and bring to a boil. Add cheese slowly, stirring as you add and until the cheese is melted and the mixture bubbles. Reduce the pan to low. Combine flour and the remaining 1/4c wine and stir into the cheese mixture. Add salt and Worcestershire Sauce. Cook and stir until smooth and thickened. Serve with cubed, crusty French bread and sliced Granny Smith apples.
